How to Calculate Salary Hike Percentage
Current or old salary is your pay before the revision; revised or new salary is your pay after the increment.
Subtract your old salary from your new salary, divide the increase by your old salary, then multiply by 100. Use the same pay period and salary basis for both amounts. Your old salary must be greater than zero.
((New Salary - Old Salary) / Old Salary) × 100
Worked example: find the hike percentage
If your monthly salary increases from ₹50,000 to ₹60,000, the increase is ₹10,000.
((60,000 - 50,000) / 50,000) × 100 = 20%
Your salary hike is 20%. Using a 12-month conversion, annual salary rises from ₹6,00,000 to ₹7,20,000.
How to Calculate New Salary After a Hike
Divide the hike percentage by 100, add 1, then multiply by your old salary. In the calculator, select the old salary and hike percentage mode and enter your monthly salary and the proposed hike.
Old Salary × (1 + Hike% / 100)
Worked example: apply a salary hike
For an old monthly salary of ₹50,000 and a 10% hike:
50,000 × (1 + 10 / 100) = ₹55,000
Your new monthly salary is ₹55,000, an increase of ₹5,000. The new annual salary is ₹6,60,000 using a 12-month conversion.

How to calculate salary hike percentage?
Use ((New Salary - Old Salary) / Old Salary) × 100. For example, an increase from ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 is a 20% hike. Compare the same pay period and salary basis, and use an old salary greater than zero.
How to calculate salary increase percentage?
Salary increase percentage and salary hike percentage mean the same thing. Divide the salary increase by the old salary, then multiply by 100. Use the old salary as the denominator, not the new salary.
How do I use the hike calculator?
Select a calculation type, enter your old monthly salary, then enter either your new monthly salary or the hike percentage. Select Calculate salary hike to see the hike percentage and new monthly salary, along with old and new annual salary figures.
Is a salary increment calculator the same as a salary hike calculator?
Yes. A salary increment calculator measures the same change in pay as a salary hike calculator. This tool can find the percentage increment from old and new salaries or calculate a new salary from a known hike percentage.
How do I calculate new salary after a hike?
Use Old Salary × (1 + Hike% / 100). For example, ₹50,000 × (1 + 10 / 100) gives a new monthly salary of ₹55,000 after a 10% hike.
Can this calculator show a salary decrease?
Yes. A new salary below the old salary produces a negative percentage. For example, a decrease from ₹50,000 to ₹45,000 is a -10% change.
Does this calculate take-home salary?
No. It compares salary figures before deductions and does not calculate tax or take-home pay.
